Live: Sensex Jumps Over 150 Points, Nifty Above 8,350 in Late Trades

Sharemasterindia.com 3:30 p.m.: The Sensex provisionally closed 136 points higher at 27,781 and the Nifty jumped 52 points to provisionally settle at 8,370.

3:25 p.m.: The European markets were trading with a negative bias. Gemany's DAX was down 0.3 per cent, French CAC 40 Index slipped 0.2 per cent and Britain's FTSE 100 fell 0.6 per cent.

3:23 p.m.: Idea Cellular, Coal India, Zee Entertainment, Lupin, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, HUL, ACC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ITC, IndusInd Bank and Bharti Airtel were among the top gainers on the Nifty.

Sun Pharma Gains 3% on Reports of Drug Price Hike


Sharemasterindia.com: Sun Pharmaceuticals shares gained as much as 3 per cent to an intraday high of Rs 874 on Tuesday after reports suggest that the company hiked prices of some of Ranbaxy's drugs in the US market.
 
As per the Intercontinental Marketing Services (IMS) data, Sun Pharma hiked prices of six Ranbaxy branded drugs in the US market in the month of May.

11:30 a.m.: IT stocks were among the worst hit in trades so far. The CNX IT index slipped 0.7 per cent; TCS, Cyient, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, HCL Technologies and Infosys were among the top losers.

11:00 a.m.: The markets were trading in a narrow range in the late morning deals. The Sensex moved in a range of 192 points and the Nifty touched intraday high of 8,356.45 and low of 8,298.95.

HUL Reorganises Go-to-Market Operations, Creates 14 Consumer Clusters


Mumbai(Sharemasterindia.com): FMCG major Hindustan Unilever (HUL) on Monday said it has reorganised its go-to-market operations from traditional four sales branches to 14 consumer clusters to service diverse consumers across channels and geographies.

The company has termed this initiative 'Winning in Many Indias'.

"This model brings us closer to our local consumers and provides us with a more granular understanding of consumers and competitors. It helps us serve our diverse consumer base in more differentiated and relevant ways across the country," HUL chairman Harish Manwani said at the 82nd Annual General Meeting.

Coal India Gains Over 2%; Morgan Stanley Maintains Overweight


Sharemasterindia.com: Coal India shares gained over 2 per cent to an intraday high of Rs 416.80 on Tuesday after global brokerage major Morgan Stanley maintained 'outperform' rating on the stock with a target price of Rs 530 per share. This indicates a potential upside of 30 per cent over Monday's closing price.
 
Morgan Stanley says Coal India looks much better positioned for growth. The brokerage expects 31 per cent CAGR in the EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of Coal India over FY2015-18, showing conviction in its volume growth and pricing power.

L&T Secures New Orders Worth Rs 2,035 Crore

 New Delhi(Sharemasterindia.com): Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said it has received orders worth Rs 2,035 crore across various business verticals.

"The construction arm of L&T won orders worth Rs 2,035 crore across various business segments in June 2015," the construction major said in a statement.

Euro, Asian Stocks Plunge as Greece Seen on Course to Default


Tokyo(Sharemasterindia.com): The euro fell almost 2 per cent and share prices tumbled across Asia on Monday as Greece looked set to default on its debt repayment this week, forcing Athens to impose capital controls to halt bank runs.

With the prospect of Greece being forced out of the euro in plain sight, the common currency fell as much as 1.9 per cent to $1.0955, its lowest in almost a month, and last stood down 1.4 per cent at $1.1007.

Against the yen, the common currency dropped more than 3 per cent to 133.80 yen, a five-week low.

U.S. stock futures dived almost 2 per cent at one point to hitting a three-month low, and last traded down 1.6 per cent.

Gold Holds Near Two-Week Low as Market Eyes Greece

 Singapore(Sharemasterindia.com): Gold was little changed on Thursday, hovering close to the prior session's two-week low as investors awaited news on Greece's talks with its international lenders to avert a default, while prospects of a U.S. interest rate hike also reined in prices.

Dollar Gives Back Gains as Greek Debt Talks Stall, Euro Steady

 Tokyo(Sharemasterindia.com): The dollar steadied after giving back gains against the yen early on Thursday as debt negotiations to avert a Greek debt default hit a bump, while the euro treaded water after showing a more limited response.

The U.S. currency fetched 123.88 yen, pulled back from a one-week high of 124.38 reached overnight after data showed the U.S. economy contracted in the first quarter but less than previously estimated.

The greenback benefited as market focus appeared to shift back to prospects of higher U.S. interest rates from the Greek saga, which began the week with optimism that a deal will be finally be concluded.

Sensex Snaps Eight Day Winning Streak, Falls 75 Points

Coal India Can Hit Rs 445: Rajat Bose

Sharemasterindia.com: Coal India shares gained as much as 1.4 per cent to hit a 52-week high of Rs 420.80 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The stock had gained nearly 4 per cent yesterday. Over the last month, Coal India shares have gained over 13 per cent as compared to 0.5 per cent gain in the broader Sensex.
 
Technical analyst Rajat Bose told NDTV that Coal India shares have broken out of a range on strong volumes, which augurs well for the stock. If Coal India shares continue to trade above Rs 415, the stock can hit Rs 445, he added.

10:17 a.m.: From the FMCG space, Hindustan Uniliver advanced 2 per cent to Rs 891. ITC, Zydus Wellness, Colgate Palmolive, Dabur and Marico were also up 1-2 per cent each.

10:10 a.m.: The Sensex has advanced 100 points to 27,905 and the Nifty jumped 28 points to move above its crucial psychological level of 8,400 on the back of buying in FMCG and pharma stocks.

New Delhi (Sharemasterindia.com): Continuing its losing streak for the third straight day, gold prices slipped below the Rs 27,000 per 10 grams mark by falling Rs 50 to trade at an over two-week low of Rs 26,950 at the bullion market on Tuesday.

However, silver recovered by Rs 100 to Rs 36,950 per kg on scattered buying by industrial units and coin makers at prevailing levels.

Bullion traders attributed the fall in gold prices to a weakening global trend amid speculation that months of impasse will end as Greece and its creditors reach an aid deal, reducing demand for the precious metal as a safe haven and low demand from jewellers.

3:00 p.m.: The Sensex was up 70 points at 27,800 and the Nifty was up 27 points at 83,80.

2:50 p.m.: BSE mid-cap index edges lower. The index slipped 0.02 per cent; J P Associates, Sun TV, Titan, Apollo Hospitals, GMR Infra, Cadila Healthcare J P Power Ventures and Indian Bank were among the top losers.

PNB, Bank of Baroda Lead Gains in Banking Stocks


Sharemasterindia.com: Shares of Punjab National Bank and Bank of Baroda led the gains in banking stocks on Tuesday. Punjab National Bank rose over 4 per cent, adding to its over 3 per cent gain on Monday. Bank of Baroda rose nearly 2.5 per cent, after rising over 3 per cent on Monday.

Banking stocks continued to outperform on Tuesday as concerns over monsoon eased with better-than-expected rains so far. Banking stocks had underperformed the broader markets this month as concerns over a weak monsoon put in doubt future rate cuts by the Reserve Bank of India.

Jyoti Shares Jump 20% on Takeover Bid


Sharemasterindia.com: Shares in Jyoti Ltd, a Vadodara-based electrical equipment company, jumped by its maximum daily limit of 20 per cent to Rs 76.20 after two individual shareholders made an open offer to acquire 1.28 crore shares in the company at Rs 63 per share.
 
"Lavjibhai Dungarbhai Daliya and Anjani Residency Private Limited have made an open offer to acquire 1.28 crore fully paid-up equity shares of Rs 10 each representing 75 per cent of fully paid-up equity share capital and voting capital of Jyoti Ltd. (target company) from equity shareholders of target company," said Inga Capital, the manager of the open offer in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Markets Gain for Seventh Day; Sensex Surges 400 Points, Nifty Ends Above 8,350

Sharemasterindia.com 3:30 p.m.: The Sensex provisionally closed 398 points higher 27,714 and the Nifty provisionally ended at 8,351, up 126 points.

3:28 p.m.: Shrikant Chouhan of Kotak Securities told NDTV that, Bharti Airtel is out of the breakout of falling range and the stock can cross Rs 500 in the couple of months. Stock has good support at Rs 410-420.

3:22 p.m.: Bharti Airtel was among the notable losers on the Nifty. The stock fell 2 per cent to Rs 425. Reliance Industries, Lupin, UltraTech Cement, ONGC and Idea Cellular were also among the laggards.

Wockhardt Surges 4% on New Drug Approval Buzz


Sharemasterindia.com: Wockhardt shares surged as much as 4 per cent to hit intraday high of Rs 1,453.05 on Monday after reports suggested that the company got approval for a new analgesic drug from US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA).

Reliance Industries Edges Lower After 6-Day Rally

 Sharemasterindia.com: Reliance Industries shares were flat in early trade on Friday. Shares of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries witnessed some profit-taking after a 6-session winning streak, which saw the market heavyweight gain over 13 per cent during the period.

At 9:41 a.m., Reliance Industries shares were down 0.30 per cent at Rs 993.50 as compared to a nearly 0.80 per cent gain in Sensex.

Despite the sharp run in Reliance Industries, analysts remain bullish on the stock. Market analyst G Chokkalingam said Reliance Industries is likely to rise to Rs 1,050, beyond which its performance depends on success of telecom business.

Sensex Gains 200 Points, Nifty Ends Above 8200; RIL Jumps 2%

 Sharemasterindia.com 3:40 p.m.: Sensex ends 200 points higher at 27,316 on Friday, its sixth gain in a row. Nifty settles 50 points higher at 8,224.

RIL stands out among the gainers with the market heavyweight rising nearly 2 per cent, also its sixth gain in a row.

Banking and oil & gas stocks led the gainer today with ONGC and Bank of Baroda rising over 2 per cent.  M&M was the biggest Nifty gainer, up 4 per cent.  37 stocks among the 50-share Nifty ends with gains while 13 with losses.

India's Economic Growth Potential Higher Than 7-7.5%: Arun Jaitley


Sharemasterindia.com: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday that economic reforms in the legislative pipeline can push India's growth rate above the 7 to 7.5 per cent range.

India's economy, Asia's third largest, is expected to grow 7.5 per cent this year, according to the latest World Bank forecast, which would make it the world's fastest growing economy. The government forecasts growth of 8.1-8.5 per cent while the central bank has a 7.6 per cent gross domestic product growth target.

"Neither the government, nor the people, nor the industry whose representatives, some of whom are here, nobody is very excited about a 7-7.5 per cent growth rate in India," Mr Jaitley said during a discussion with Timothy Geithner, president of investment firm Warburg Pincus and a former U.S. Treasury Secretary.

Sensex Set For Biggest Weekly Gain in 5 Months; Mumbai Rains Hit Volumes


Mumbai(Sharemasterindia.com): Indian stocks rose on Friday, with benchmark Sensex heading for their biggest weekly gain in nearly five months. Market heavyweight Reliance Industries surged for a sixth straight session on optimism it would begin 4G phone services in December.

Cash share volumes were well below their 10-day average on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange, as trading was disrupted by heavy rains in the nation's financial capital Mumbai.

Stocks also rose on value-buying and were on their way to snap the streak of three straight weekly losses, as the broader NSE index, Nifty, remains nearly 10 per cent below its record high hit in March.

Asian shares, which rose for a third consecutive day, also helped sentiment as investors bet US interest rates will not as rise quickly as expected.


No Bail For Subrata Roy, Sahara Asked to Pay Rs 36,000 Crore



Sharemasterindia.com: Jailed Sahara chief Subrata Roy failed to get bail from Supreme Court with the top court on Friday reiterating that his release is subject to furnishing Rs 5,000 crore in cash and Rs 5,000 crore in bank guarantee. The Sahara chief failed to raise the bank guarantee.
 
Mr Roy was arrested in March last year after the company failed to comply with a court order to refund money it had raised from millions of small investors by selling them bonds later ruled to be illegal.

Sharemasterindia.com: Shares of Essar Oil fell nearly 6 per cent on Friday after hitting a 52-week high of 162.30 in early trade. Citing sources, Reuters on Thursday reported that Russian oil giant Rosneft's talks to buy a stake in the Essar Group company has hit a bump over valuations.

Reuters quoting sources said that Russian oil giant Rosneft's talks with Essar Group to buy a key stake in the unit that owns the Vadinar refinery have slowed.

Reuters citing sources said discussions between the two sides over the 400,000 barrel per day (bpd) refinery began in December, when Essar signed a deal to buy 200,000 bpd oil from Rosneft for a decade. Talks have centred on a stake of 50 percent minus one share, Reuters added.

Sharemasterindia 9:20 a.m.: The Sensex advanced over 150 points and the Nifty moved above its crucial psychological level of 8,200 on the back of buying visible across the sectors.

Buying in stock markets was visible across sectors. BSE oil & gas index was the top sectoral gainer, up 0.85 per cent. Metal, capital goods, banking, healthcare and IT indices were also up 0.45-0.7 per cent each.

From the Nifty-50 basket of stocks, 41 stocks were advancing while 9 were declining.

Hindalco was the top Nifty gainer, the stock jumped 2 per cent to Rs 122 after LIC increased its stake in the company to 13 per cent.

Live: Sensex Gains Over 300 Points Led by RIL, HDFC Bank

3:12 p.m.: The BSE Sensex and Nifty rose more than 1 per cent on Thursday, heading for their highest close in nearly 2-1/2 weeks, led by a surge in index heavyweight Reliance Industries for a fifth day, on optimism the company would begin 4G phone services in December.

"Seems like bulls are trying to put a bottom in place. The herd mentality of being underweight on India is at its peak," G. Chokkalingam, founder of Equinomics, a Mumbai-based research and fund advisory firm told Reuters.

Eicher Motors, Polaris Industries Launch Utility Vehicle, Shares Gain

 Sharemasterindia.com: Eicher Motors, Polaris Industries together have rolled out the first vehicle called Multix from their joint venture called Eicher Polaris. Multix is a 5-seater PUV or personal utility vehicle, priced at Rs 2.32 lakh (ex-showroom Jaipur).

The Eicher Motors stock on Thursday rose over 2 per cent to Rs 19,688. At 1:14 pm it was trading over 1 per cent at Rs 19,525, outperforming the broader Nifty and the Sensex.

Why Reliance Industries Shares Shot Up 11% in Five Days

 Sharemasterindia.com: Reliance Industries shares have seen strong buying interest since the company held its 41st AGM on Friday. RIL shares have notched up 11 per cent gains in the previous five sessions, including Thursday's intraday high of Rs 974.

Some analysts attribute the outperformance in RIL shares to continued optimism about the company's plans to start 4G phone services in December. Speaking at the company's annual meeting of shareholders, Mukesh Ambani, India's richest man, said the Reliance Jio will initiate a test launch over the next few months.

The dollar's showed weakness against euro and other currencies after the Fed disappointed some who had hoped for a clearer signal on the timing of an interest rate. The US Fed kept its near-zero benchmark interest rate unchanged.

Asia Stocks Up, Dollar Sags after Dovish Signals from Fed

 Tokyo(Sharemasterindia.com): Asian equities rose early on Thursday after the Federal Reserve sounded more dovish than many had expected and led investors to push back their expected timing of a rate hike, while the dollar was put on the defensive on the same token.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan climbed 0.3 per cent. South Korea's Kospi rose 0.7 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei dipped 0.1 per cent on the yen's gains against the dollar.

Wall Street shares inched higher in a choppy session overnight following the Fed's statements, with the Dow rising 0.17 per cent and S&P gaining 0.2 per cent.

Maggi's Brand Value Set to Fall by $200 Million Following India Ban: Report


Sharemasterindia.com: Nestle shares fell 2 per cent in early trade on Wednesday after consultancy firm Brand Finance said Maggi will lose over $200 million or nearly Rs 1,300 crore in brand value following the ban of the popular noodles brand in India.

Nestle withdrew all varieties of Maggi noodles on June 5, hours before the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) banned the snack, ruling it "unsafe and hazardous". The withdrawal came amid country-wide scrutiny on Maggi for high content of monosodium glutamate (a taste enhancer) and lead in some samples.

Sensex Gains for Fourth Day, Jumps 119 Points

3:26 p.m.: Cipla Ltd, India's fourth-largest drugmaker by sales, is planning to enter Latin America and Eastern Europe to tap into growing demand for generic drugs in emerging markets, Chief Executive Subhanu Saxena said.

3:18 p.m.: Reliance Industries, on track for a fourth straight session of gains, jumped 4 per cent on Wednesday. Since its 41st AGM on Friday, RIL shares are up 7.5 per cent as compared to 2.1 per cent gain in the broader Nifty.

3:10 p.m.: Banking and power stocks are witnessing some profit-booking. The Bank Nifty was down 0.12 per cent and the power index slipped 0.35 per cent.

3:05 p.m.: The markets have come off the intraday highs. The Sensex which touched high of 26,983.48 was up 132 points at 26,818 and the Nifty advanced 41 points to 8,088.

Asian Stocks Off 3-Month Lows as China Bounces, Fed Eyed

Sharemasterindia.com: Hong Kong: Asian shares rose from three-month lows on Wednesday as Chinese shares staged a comeback, and the dollar stayed static as investors waited for clues from a Federal Reserve meeting on when US interest rates are likely to rise.

Financial spread-betters expected Britain's FTSE 100 to open 13 to 17 points higher, or as much as 0.25 per cent, Germany's DAX to gain 33 to 39 points, or as much as 0.35 per cent, and France's CAC 40 to rise 11 to 12 points, or as much as 0.25 per cent, on Wednesday.

MSCI's index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan gained 0.8 per cent, moving away from a three-month low on Tuesday as Chinese stocks rallied by more than 2 per cent from the day's lows.

Endless wrangling over the Greek debt crisis also kept broader sentiment leaning towards safe haven assets. Both Japan's Nikkei and Taiwan flipped into negative territory.

Vedanta Limited Shares Fall for Fourth Day, Hits 52-Week Low


Sharemasterindia.com: Shares of Vedanta Limited fell over 3 per cent on Wednesday, extending their losses to the fourth day. The shares hit a new 52-week low Rs. 173.10. A Press Trust of India report said that state insurer LIC has expressed concern over the Cairn merger deal. LIC is the second biggest shareholder in Cairn India after UK's Cairn Energy. LIC owns 9.06 per cent stake in Cairn India.

Anil Agarwal-promoted Vedanta Ltd on Sunday said it would merge its subsidiary Cairn India with itself. The deal needs the approval of majority of minority shareholders. Cairn India's annual general meeting will be held on July 21, where the shareholders will get a chance to vote on it. Vedanta almost holds 60 per cent stake in Cairn India.

As part of the merger deal, each Cairn India shareholder will be offered an equity share of Vedanta, besides a 7.5 per cent redeemable preference share having a face value of Rs. 10.

SE Investments Shares Surge Over 50% in 3 Days

SE Investments shares surged over 18 per cent to hit an intraday high of Rs 312 on Wednesday. Trading volumes on the counter jumped nearly two times as 3475 shares changed hands on the BSE, compared to average of 1752 shares traded daily in last two weeks. SE Investments shares advanced over 50 per cent in last three trading sessions including today's gains.
On June 12, the stock closed at Rs 201.85 apiece on the BSE.

Why analysts are upbeat on Insecticides (India) shares

IIL is a small-cap company with market capitalisation of Rs 975.48 crore and is engaged in the production of formulation and technical agro chemicals and pesticides. It has a portfolio of 99 formulation and 18 technical products

Being in the agrochemical space, monsoon plays a vital role in driving demand for the sector. While there has been a forecast of weak monsoon in 2015, there has not been an instance of two consecutive years of deficient rainfall in the past (2014 monsoon was deficient at 88 per cent of LPA).

Petrol Price Hiked by 64 Paise; Diesel Cut by Rs 1.35


New Delhi(Sharemasterindia.com): Petrol price was on Monday hiked by 64 paise a litre, but diesel price was cut by Rs 1.35 per litre in line with trend in global oil rates.

This is the third increase in petrol price since May.

However, in case of diesel, the reduction has halted two consecutive increases during last month. The revision in rates will be effective from midnight of 15 and 16 June.

Petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 66.93 per litre from tomorrow instead of Rs 66.29 at present. A litre of diesel will cost Rs 50.93 per litre as opposed to Rs 52.28, Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the nation's largest oil company, said.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Falls After Decision on FII Limit Deferred


Sharemasterindia.com: Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank fell on Tuesday after an inter-ministerial panel deferred decision for the second time on the bank's proposal for raising foreign investment limit.

The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) had taken up the application in its meeting on Monday, but the decision was deferred, Press Trust of India said, citing sources. Earlier, the board had deferred decision on the proposal in its meeting held on April 30.

M&M Gains on Aerospace Deal With Airbus



Sharemasterindia.com: Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) gained on Tuesday after its subsidiary clinched a contract from aircraft manufacturer Airbus at the Paris Air Show.

Mahindra Group subsidiary Mahindra Aerospace bagged a multi-year contract to manufacture aero-components. The value of the contract was not disclosed. The Mahindra group had set up its utility aircraft and aerostructure manufacturing operation with Mahindra Aerospace in 2008.
